Silvia Poloto - Room 205

My work is driven by constant evolution and a deliberate rejection of predictability. Viewers are often surprised by the diversity across my pieces, as each new series shifts in color, materials, and content. This is intentional—after spending time immersed in a specific series, the work can begin to feel formulaic, and I find myself craving the excitement of not knowing exactly where my art will take me.

Recently, I discovered a unifying thread for my diverse body of work: I began working exclusively in black and white. By stripping away color, I created a visual language that allows my explorations to coexist under one cohesive umbrella. This restriction has brought new energy to my process, leading me to the concept of Duality.

Through Duality, I explore the tension between opposites—chaos/order, form/void, control/release, motion/stillness, push/pull, seen/unseen, presence/absence. These contrasting elements form the foundation of my work, with each duality becoming a collection within the larger series. This ongoing exploration of opposites allows me to continuously discover new paths in my creative process, pushing me to confront and embrace the unknown.
