On February 14th, 2017 Homeland Security and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) raided El Salvadorian enclaves in Santa Cruz, California, terrorizing neighborhoods with flash bangs, low-flying helicopters with spotlights and armored vehicles. Following these raids I decided to explore the roots of Central American migration to Santa Cruz which began in the 1980's as a direct result of the El Salvadoran civil war. My latest series, “The Great Migration-El Salvador to Santa Cruz” fictionalizes the story of this migration.
