Guta Galli

This room will host a mixed media installation that dialogues with my recent performance brid(g)e. In this 2h20 min piece, I crawled dressed as a bride for four blocks at night, from Market Street to Root Division gallery (Mission street). Inside the gallery, there was a GPS and a live streaming video tracking my progress.

The piece is not about love. It is about the marriage of art with immigration politics in a city like San Francisco. It is about the death of the romantic ideas behind being an artist, and, more specifically, a female, brown artist / immigrant in this current times in the USA.
