Whitney Pintello

Amidst the chaos of 2020, I got to reinvent myself as an artist. For the last 20 years, I have enjoyed commercial and private murals and the festival and fair circuit with my reverse-painted glass. My love affair with color and with people was constantly fed. In lockdown last year, I was afforded the time and opportunity to explore abstract painting. Inspired by UK artist Louise Fletcher’s teaching, and studying abroad with Terri Froelich and Susan Melrath, I found a whole new voice, a new vibration to my work. I feel like I have been gifted new eyes, a new chance to express myself and interact with the world through my work. Painting during this strange time of global lockdown heightened the immediacy, the strength and saturation. I feel more deeply in this work this year than in the last twenty painting. The world is cracking wide open for me, and I am here for it!
