Mark Wagner

Born in Detroit Michigan to an automotive designer father and a musician mother, I attended an art-centered high school and then the University of Michigan, where I graduated with a BFA in painting and printmaking. Moving to Los Angeles after graduation, I went to work as an illustrator and raised a family. After many dry years creatively, I eventually started making art for myself again. I fell in love with the spirit of the desert and of it's wildlife, and developed a desire to portray the spirits that reside in all animals. The animals I paint exude emotion, spiritual strength, character and identity. My background as an illustrator instilled in me a passion for bold and graphic imagery, whether it's expressed in a comic strip, the mask of a luchador, or the face of a coyote.
