Damon Powell

Damon Powell is an artist & writer who currently resides in Emeryville, California. His creations are based on spiritual insights expressed through the creation of art and writing. His mission is, “to give divine light form through the creation of images that point towards the ways in which Spirit is present in our world.” Damon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, his Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Graduate Theological Union (GTU). Dr. Powell was an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served in various ministerial capacities for 26 years. After obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Damon began a career as a professional illustrator before he was called into ministry. His training at the Graduate Theological Union helped him discover how he could combine his artistic training, research as an independent scholar, and his spiritual practice into an overarching vocational vision. Damon’s writings and artistic creations are birthed from meditation, prayer, and in-depth studies of various sacred books. These creations reflect his efforts to explore the mystical connection between art, aesthetics, and spirituality.
