I am a self-taught photographer who uses digital manipulation to tell stories about our choices, layered emotional states, and paths. Drawing on my background in mental health and behavioral research, I aim to use art to connect, awaken and inspire.
In a former career, I often found that words were inadequate to describe an emotion or internal state. Instead, I began to rely on imagery to help people re-envision what they were experiencing, where they wanted to go, what they wanted themselves and their life to look like. I use this as the foundation of my work, creating an alternate version of a self, a manipulated reality, a dreamlike version of events. I believe that creating art that is outside of reality helps people to think outside of our narrow confines, to consider what might be instead of what is.
