Access-Accessibility | Inclusion-Exclusivity: A conversation between Miles Regis and Brenda Williams
3:30pm: Access-Accessibility | Inclusion-Exclusivity: A conversation between Miles Regis and Brenda Williams
For LA-based, Trinidad-born artist Miles Regis, every action is an opportunity for creative self-expression. Prolific in both fine art and fashion design, Regis freely swaps the materials and languages of each to enrich the other.
Brenda Williams is an art advisor and independent curator specializing in emerging contemporary artists. She’s also an instructor at UCLA Extension, her class, Contemporary Art Los Angeles.
Miles will talk about the current market and how his work has changed over the years. Examples of his new challenges and concerns show throughout his work. They will also discuss the current market for African American work and how different the market is today. There are many ways in which Miles is able to navigate very deep personal issues; love, family, politics. and social advocacy.
