Jennifer Perlmutter, owner of Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery and stARTup Advisor, met Victoria Huckins, exhibiting at stARTup San Francisco in 2016 and the two have formed a fruitful and fulfilling relationship.

About their first meeting Jennifer said, “I view my gallery as a place of connection and transformation. My goal as a gallery owner is to provide a direct experience with the artist.”
She continued, “I look forward to finding something new and undiscovered at stARTup Art Fair. I first met Victoria Huckins at stARTup two years ago in San Francisco. Her art, along with her professionalism and ‘ready-ness’ was exactly what I look for when taking the risk of bringing on a new artist.”

Jennifer was also taken with Victoria’s process, which Victoria describes as reflecting her “subconscious thoughts and inspirations. I do not have a preconceived image or idea in mind at the outset. I start most of my painting with texture, then add color and shapes somewhat at random. This triggers an imaginative and reactive process, happening naturally within the piece.”
After working together and sharing a positive professional relationship, Victoria signed on with Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery in May 2017.

“Victoria’s work was an immediate hit with our clients and gallery community,” Jennifer continues. “Her work is playful but sophisticated, with a unique visual language and use of media.”
Building on successful group shows in 2017, Jennifer featured Victoria in “T R A N S I T 1 8 N S,” which took 4 years to develop and ran June-July, 2018.

“Victoria is now one of our best-selling artists,” Jennifer says. "Her pieces are never in the gallery for long!"

Jennifer is always looking for new artists to empower and elevate. (It’s why we enjoy working with her on our Advisory Committee!) Before we left her beautiful gallery, we asked what she loves most about her role as an artist, gallery owner, and educator.
