Marilynn Host

Mair Host is a visual artist who works in both 2-D acrylic and encaustic mediums, and 3-D sculpture. The encaustic work is primarily abstract and involves an emphasis on found objects and collections of various remnants. The work focuses on texture and color with differing degrees of opacity or transparency. There is often the shine of metallic materials and the organic themes of anture. When looking at these pieces, one sees things of the past and how they have become something new. Here there is a celebration in that the familiar and/or discarded objects have a place of honor, reverence and remembrance.

The 3-D paper mache work is coloful, whimsical and fun. It is part of a craft wholesale line that Mair owns. The items bring about a smile.
