Jeff Horton

I create architectural abstract paintings. I am inspired by movement, which I create on the canvas by working with lines and colors. My interest to create architectural spaces in my paintings is a way to merge my fascination with art and architecture. The completed works vary in scale and use images taken from the built world around us as a starting point. Layers and lines are painted using oil paints suspended in a wax medium. The wax medium allows me to work forwards and backwards, constantly removing and adding layers to the painting. I am compelled to work in a larger scale because it allows me to enhance the viewers’ connection into the space.
