Jack Delaney
I am moved to make art about the universal experiences of being human. My works are mostly large-scale oil paintings on canvas, and they are narrative expressions of the significant life journeys we are on, affixed with religious, mythological, and art historical imagery through a contemporary schema. When interpreting my paintings, I want the viewer to consider occupying the worlds I have created with their own life events. Recognizing that these are collective experiences we all share in common gives meaning to our lives. Communicating them through visual language between artist and viewer is at the core of what I believe it means to be human.
