Don Johnson Jr.

My inspiration for the Day of the Dead paintings is a local, yearly parade in Albuquerque, New Mexico called the Marigold Parade. The Marigold Parade occurs on or about All Saints Day and runs through Isleta Boulevard in South Albuquerque. I attend it each year seeking inspiration for paintings.

The inspiration for the animal paintings comes from my visits to the Rio Grande Zoo. During the summer I frequent the zoo and paint pictures of the animals. They are horrible models as they do not stay still or follow direction.
