Heliográfica Nacional / Abrahan Mascarro
Zopilote Inc. / Heliográfica Nacional is a newly born three-person collective: MIKE (Miguel Counahan), DODE (Miguel Angel Álvarez Bonega) and MANU (Abraham Mascorro). They are printmakers and photographers interested in heliogravure as prefered technique, and also mixed-media such as woodcut, linocut, handcut vinyl, collage, drawing, cyanotype, tintype. Taking old school analog photographic processes as starting point for their visual research, they are building a growing archive, from landscape to portraiture, and simple moments captured on film and transferred into copper plates in order to have hi-res analog prints, printed from copper plates into japanese paper.
